Who were the 2017 CrossFit Games winners?
Being a professional CrossFit athlete cannot possibly be an easy task. If you don’t believe me, ask Mathew Fraser, aka Mat Fraser, the winner of the 2017 CrossFit Games for the men category, or Tia-Clair Toomey, winner for the female category. You can also ask any of the winners from the team category, Wasatch CrossFit. But, who are they? And what did they do to win the 2017 CrossFit Games?

Also known as Mat Fraser, he is a professional CrossFit athlete who, previous to his first win in 2016, had already placed second in the 2014 and 2015 CrossFit Games. From 2014 to the first year he won the CrossFit Games, he placed first in regionals, seventh in the open in 2014 and 2016, and first in the open in 2015. He placed first on all three phases in 2017. He then proceeded to win for the second time in a row in 2017.
Before becoming a CrossFit Athlete, he was an Olympic weightlifter that was injured in 2009. He does not have a fixed workout program. Due to the unpredictability of the Crossfit Games, he tries to prepare for everything. Before 2015, he did not have a strict diet either and would eat anything he desired. When he placed second in 2015 he decided to take a more serious approach with his diet.
What you need to know about Tia-Clair Toomey!
She is not only a CrossFit Games athlete but also a Weightlifter. Before winning in 2017, she placed second in 2015 and 2016. She placed third during regionals in 2015 and second in 2016 and 2017. During the open, she placed 63rd, 82nd, and 18th respectively.
She began doing CrossFit in 2013 and was approached as a weightlifter by Miles Wydall. She has been successful in both types of competitions. Before that, she was mostly a runner.
What you need to know about Wasatch CrossFit!
Wasatch CrossFit was led by Adrian Conway into victory in 2017. They will go down in history as the team to break CrossFit Mayhem Freedom’s winning streak, which is highly impressive. This meant Rich Froning would not be a Crossfit Games winner for the first time since 2010!
The team consisted of Adrian Conway, Mandi Janowitz, Tiffany Hendrickson, and Brennan Fjord. They had a stunning and consistent performance during the Games, winning four events and riding into victory!
